Meri-Jane Rochelson, a professor of English at Florida International University, is the author of A Jew in the Public Arena: The Career of Israel Zangwill (Wayne State University Press), a biography of an author, journalist, feminist, and Zionist sometimes called the first Jewish celebrity of the Twentieth Century. She also edited a new edition of Zangwill’s sensational 1892 novel, Children of the Ghetto.
