Israeli Ambassador Haim Waxman, Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, will be speaking at the University on November 15th on the topic of Israel and the UN. The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolfe Theater at the Biscayne Bay Campus (3000 NE 151st Street, North Miami, FL).

Ambassador Waxman is a career diplomat who has served as interim Acting Deputy Director-General for Strategic Affairs and as Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Director of Export Control for the Department of Defense from 2005 to 2007, Ambassador Waxman was involved in reforming Israel's system of export controls and legislation, and was a member of the UN Group of Experts on Illicit Brokering in Small Arms and Light Weapons.

Ambassador Waxman has also served as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations, where he represented Israel in a number of international organizations, including the World Health Organization, the International Labour Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
