The JSP's Annual Holocaust Scholar-in-Residence Liora Gubkin, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at California State University, Bakersfield, will speak on "Spiritual Resistance During the Holocaust" at 11:00 am on the University Park Campus, room GC 305. In 2007, Dr. Gubkin spent six weeks at the USC Shoah Foundation Institute listening to survivors’ testimonies about spiritual resistance. She is currently working on adding the concept of “spiritual resistance” to scholarly and public discussions of resistance during the Holocaust and developing teaching materials to incorporate audio-visual testimony into classroom teaching. Her lecture is drawn from this research.
